Buenos Aires Gay Parade

Buenos Aires Gay Pride Parade

Something of a gay Mecca, by Latin America standards at least, Buenos Aires hosts a thriving gay and lesbian community with many gay clubs, bars and social venues. The main Pride Parade is held in the streets of downtown Buenos Aires on the first Saturday of November, to celebrate the formation of the first-ever gay group in Buenos Aires in 1969. Thousands of gays and non-gays from many different organisations join this popular, flamboyant event. Buenos Aires Gay Pride Parade is the most important annual gay event.

Where? Streets of downtown Buenos Aires. Includes May Square, facing Cathedral and Presidential Palace.

This year Buenos Aires Gay Pride Parade will be held on November 7 at six o’clock in the Plaza de Mayo.

Mar del Plata Beach is an important bathing resort city of Argentina. It is the preferred beach city in Argentina for the gay community because it has a growing gay nightlife scene.

It is located to 414 kilometers of the city of Buenos Aires, in the Province of Buenos Aires.

Mar del Plata Beach is a modern city that brings a coast of more than 17 kilometers with beaches and one impressive infrastructure of services: hotels of all the categories, commercial pensions, restaurants, bars, discos, cinemas, theaters and galleries. Also it has the biggest casino of the world! :D

The development of Mar del Plata as a seasonal resort in the early 20th century led upper class tourists from Buenos Aires to build a European-inspired architecture, based mainly on the picturesque and later on the art deco styles. This gave Mar del Plata the nickname of the Argentine Biarritz.

Obelisco - Buenos Aires Gay Tourism

Hi everyone! Today I going to share with you a quick gay tour around Buenos Aires. What you can visit and expect, find it here :)

First, a bit of geography -not a gay topic of course. Buenos Aires was founded on 1536 and is the capital city of Argentina, as well as the largest city. Buenos Aires is located on the shore of the Rio de la Plata, close to Uruguay and Brazil. The population is about 3 million people just within the city’s boundaries. If you consider the whole conurbation (Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires) the figure ascend to 13 millon! That’s really a lot of people.

Buenos Aires has a humid climate because of the river proximity, with temperatures averaging 50°F in winter (june to september) and 83°F during summer (december to march). In 2007 there was even a snowfall, the second one in the registered history of Buenos Aires weather.

We will talk about transportation, food, tango and economics in further posts, so let us move on to gay topics :)

First of all, gay activities in Buenos Aires are really massive. Not only gay nightlife, but daily gay tours and circuits. In 2008, Buenos Aires was considered the #2 worldwide city option to visit, only after Bangkok.

By the night, the gay options are dozens. You can find about 15 gay clubs, pubs and bars. Buenos Aires has no gay-neighborhood well defined, but there are hot areas in the city that can be considered as gay neighborhoods. That is because the amount of gay discos or gay pubs there. This hot gay zones are Palermo, Recoleta and Barrio Norte.

Not only gay discos or pubs. Buenos Aires nightlife can offer you gay darkrooms, gay saunas, gay spa, gay hotels and a lot of places to have fun or relax. You choose what you need.
